Suntory’s Kolbe meets Super Bowl winner Justin Reid in Tokyo

Suntory Sungoliath ace Cheslin Kolbe met up with NFL star Justin Reid in Tokyo and exchanged shirts as well experiences about their success at the pinnacle of their respective sports.

Springboks livewire Kolbe, 30, and Kansas City Chiefs safety Reid, 27, have won the greatest prizes in rugby union and the NFL and in dominant fashion.

Kolbe has won consecutive World Cups with his country (2019 and 2023) while Reid, who originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick (68th overall) by the Houston Texans in the 2018, has won back-to-back Super Bowls (2023 and 2024) with Andy Reid’s Chiefs.

Kolbe said: “Great to have met two-time Superbowl Champion Justin Reid in Tokyo.”

Reid said: “My brother and fellow champion! Was fantastic meeting you brother.”

Kolbe is represented by Roc Nation Sports management company and met founder Jay-Z in March during an off-week.

The Fuchu side face arch-rivals Toshiba Brave Lupus on Sunday in the second League One division semi-final at Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium.

Reid’s Chiefs were the talk of rugby in March when they signed dazzling Welsh winger Louis Rees-Zammit, 23, on a three-year deal after the Cardiff youth product pulled out of the Six Nations to join NFL’s International Player Pathway.
