Former Wallabies star Quade Cooper has announced that he will leave division two side Hanazono Kintetsu Liners at the end of the season.
Cooper, 36, made the announcement on his Instagram account as he prepares to end his six-year stay in Osaka.
“For the past six years, this city has been more than just a place to play, it’s been home,” said Cooper.
“The people, the culture, and the unwavering support have meant everything to me.”
The 2011 Super Rugby Champion has made nine appearances this season, scoring two tries and 29 points as the Liners have gradually improved and are now in contention to make an instant return to Japan’s top-flight.
The veteran playmaker, who also runs his own clothing label, SHOSAI, joined the Liners in 2019 from Melbourne Rebels. Despite initially being reluctant to leave Australia, the mercurial fly-half was convinced to take up the lucrative offer in Japan by his agent.

Cooper has given no indictation of what's next for him but is understood to be considering his options and mulling over offers.
His long-time club and international teammate Will Genia replied to the Instagram post saying: “What a time and what a journey brother.”
Former Kintetsu teammate Joshua Nohra, who joined Saitama Wild Knights in the summer, said: “The best to do it brother.”
Ex-Rebels and Wallabies star Carter Gordon said: “Great shift.”
The Liners powered past Kamaishi Seawaves 50-8 on Saturday with the ageless Cooper and Genia both instrumental in a resounding win to close the gap on leaders Toyota Industries Shuttles Aichi and second-placed Green Rockets.
